The Seven Chakras are the centres in our bodies in which energy flows through.

The Sanskrit word ‘Chakra’ translates to ‘wheel’ or disc.

Blocked energy in our seven chakras can often lead to illness, so it's important to understand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely. They are the circular vortexes (whirlwinds) of energy that are placed in seven different points on the spinal column and all the chakras are connected to the various organs and glands within our body. Think of your chakras as spinning wheels of energy that begin at the base of your spine and move upward, ending with the 7th on the crown of your head.

These chakras are responsible for distributing life energy which is also known as 'Qi', these vortexes can become stagnant, blocked or over-active, blocked energy can often lead to illness or can be responsible for psychological issues we find ourselves experiencing. Balanced chakras are vital to mental, physical and spiritual alignment.

Chakra colours are typically broken down into seven and follow the order of the colours of the rainbow. Let’s look at the chakra colours in order, each colour reflects a type of vibration or frequency, radiating through the chakras.

Colour matching crystals to the appropriate chakras is a great way to balance the chakras. At the most obvious level, one can match a colour with its associated with the energy centre to support or activate its flow. For example, you may use red to stimulate root chakra energy and support grounding and overall vitality; orange to target the second energy centre; yellow for the third, etc. I can do the same with colour therapy, using silk scarves positioned on the matching chakras.
